We’ve all heard that quote, and there’s mounting evidence that mom knew best when she encouraged us to eat apples! From a report www.besthealthmag.ca/eat-well/nutrition/15-health-benefits-of-eating-apples, we learn that there are 15 benefits from eating apples. Some benefits we may not have heard of, but the overall idea is that apples have a high concentration of antioxidants that are disease-fighting components. Some of those benefits are white teeth, preventing Alzheimer’s, protecting against Parkinson’s disease and a healthier heart to name a few. You can get the full list of benefits on the website.
To incorporate apples into your diet, you can add steamed fresh apple slices (one apple) to your Nature’s Flavors Pancake/Waffle Mix. Just steam the slices, or pieces if you prefer, in boiling water until soft. Drain and then add to your batter. Or, when you are making cake use the Apple Cake Mix and instead of adding oil to the mix, use organic apple sauce.
The Apple Cake Mix comes in two forms: one is gluten-free, vegan and made with organic cane juice, the other is gluten-free, vegan, and sugar free. The picture on the package does not do the baked finished product justice. The picture shows a few pieces of apple in the mix, but when you bake it, you will find the cake chocked full of pieces of delicious apples. Personally, I love the cake unfrosted, but if you choose to frost it, replace the butter in your frosting recipe with applesauce and add ¼ tsp cinnamon! Delish! Try serving it warm for breakfast or brunch!
Enjoy your apple a day and incorporate them into our mixes too.
