Perfect Family – That’s possible, right?

Do you have a Perfect Family?  I’m sure they exist.  Family as defined by Webster’s Dictionary is a group of people with common values, attitudes, interests or goals.  And perfect is defined as ideal!  Why not celebrate your Perfect Family by spending some time with each other and eat dinner outside on the patio, or on a blanket on the lawn, or have a movie night, or spend an afternoon in the park.  Make something special for dessert like Family Cookies.  Family cookies are actually just sugar cookies cut into fun shapes with each shape representing each member of the family – pets too!  The possibilities are limitless!  To make the cookies “ideal” bake them using a wooden Popsicle stick for a handle so that eating them will be, well, perfect too!

Using your favorite recipe, using Nature’s Flavors All Purpose Gluten-Free, Vegan Flour

, roll your dough to a ½” thickness.  For our recipe we use one teaspoon of Nature’s Flavors Vanilla Extract

, but the possibilities are endless, we have so many flavors to choose from; we are Nature’s Flavors!

Press a wooden Popsicle stick into the bottom part of the batter.  Our family sugar cookie recipe calls for the cookies to be baked 8 minutes, but for these “lollipop” cookies, they need to be baked about 13 minutes because they are a bit thicker.  Don’t move the cookies once baked, let them cool for about 5 minutes.  Then carefully move them to a wire rack to cool completely.  After they are completely cool, they are ready to be decorated with a simple powdered sugar frosting using Nature’s Flavors Organic Powdered Sugar.

Divide the frosting into batches, one for each member.  Add a bit of different color to each batch, using your favorite Nature’s Flavors All Natural Colors. To determine how much coloring to add, start by dipping a toothpick into the color, add this to the frosting, mix and see what the result is, then add additional color until it is the color you desire.  After the frosting is completely dry and set, you can even add colored ribbons to the sticks if you want to dress them up a bit for your special family celebration.

This is a great project to do with your kids.  They will like picking out the shapes of the cookie cutters, helping roll out the dough, pressing the Popsicle sticks into the batter, and painting the cookies with the colored frosting.  Best of all, everyone will enjoy eating these delicious cookies together.  These family cookies may become a tradition for your perfect ideal family!
